A variety of pictures, some taken on a two-day bike tour,
others taken on trips with son Will and
granddaughter Sequoia. The second trip covered some of
the same territory as the bike tour.
Another picture for Susan Hill. Construction of a traditional
mud building in progress.
Boti Falls.
Akaa Falls.
Akaa Falls, closeup of fallen stack. For me, the stack was
initially a puzzle: how did they get like that? I now theorize
that a large column of rock peeled off the right side of the gorge
and fractured when into about six sections when the column hit the
other wall of the gorge. How long ago? I have no idea what geological
time is.
Arc welding the broken tandem frame. The tip of the arc welder
completes an electrical circuit with the bike, heating up the
metal frame sufficiently to weld it.
One happy welder. I made his (pay)day, and he made mine.
Janice's friend Lydia, who runs a corner kiosk, specializing

The Akosombo dam on the Volta River. It creates Lake Volta, the
largest manmade lake in the world. It drains essentially all
of Ghana, is 250 miles long, and covers 1/10 the surface of
Ghana. It provides most of the electricity for Ghana, with the
excess shared with Togo, Burkina Faso, and Cote d'Ivoire.
Volta River bridge just below the dam.
